Nutrition

If you’re serious about your health and fitness goals, an essential component is nutrition and supplying your body with the correct amount of energy and nutrients necessary to promote optimal health of all body systems. This is particularly important for maximising physical performance and recovery after exercise.

Nutrition should be considered at all fitness levels; whether new to health & fitness, right through to professional athlete level.

Therefore; depending on your package, as a client of Absolute Fitness, part of exercise and goal planning includes a review of current nutritional intake. This is facilitated by tracking food and drink consumed over a fixed period.

If necessary, alterations can then be recommended to support meeting defined goals.

The recommended way of tracking would be through use of a popular tracking app, another option is to use a food diary.

A food diary template can be downloaded below; either download to your device and complete digitally with as much detail as possible, or print a copy and complete.

Meal Plans

Absolute Fitness, in general, is opposed to assigning basic, one-size fits all 'meal plans'. The preference is to educate and make adjustments to the current diet, to optimise for results.

This method allows the diet to be more sustainable, long term.

However; if your current diet is largely unhealthy, we can create a high level diet structure based on your favourite foods and make adjustments to meet your individual fitness goals.

We believe in having diet flexibility, so it will never be a rigid plan that cannot be changed.

A Note About Diet

What do you think of when you hear the word 'diet'?

Does it bring fear, resistance and 'cheat days'?

If so, that really should not be the case.

Look in the dictionary and you'll see some different definitions, I prefer this one from the Oxford English Dictionary:

"The kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats."

This suggests that a diet is not meant to be a temporary change or something you "go on".

Instead, in the case of 'healthy eating', it's a long-term lifestyle shift in the way you eat to improve your health and reach your wellness goals.

Adopting a healthy diet involves making permanent changes to your eating habits, including selecting nutritious foods and controlling portion sizes, rather than simply following a restrictive plan for a limited period of time.

This is the belief and approach Absolute Fitness take in fitness coaching.
